Dima Zaytsev
Mechanical Engineer
Dima received his bachelor of science degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2017. Upon completion of his degree, he began his role as the lead applications engineer at Micro-LAM, Inc., a technology startup focused on creating a retrofittable add-on to ultra-precision diamond turning lathes for the purpose of machining optics in hard and brittle materials. His major responsibilities included fixture and opto-mechanical tool design, process development, experimental machining, and optical surface characterization for a variety of optical lens applications. Since joining the lab in February 2020, he has been serving as a mechanical engineer for the Center for X-Ray Optics, providing mechanical design, analysis, and beamline support for the newly-built mask inspection tool (TPI) at the ALS.
